Little Learners is a large family child care home which provides full-time child care for working families.

​

We have up to 14 children enrolled in our care at one time, with 2 qualified teachers working together to offer a play-based, child-directed curriculum. We care for and educate children in a mixed age setting.

​

• We are open Monday- Friday from 6:30am until 5:30pm. We are closed on holidays.

• We enroll children ages birth-five years old

• Healthy meals and snacks are provided.

• We use the Learning Genie app to communicate with families, keeping them updated about their child's day.

• Our staff is made up of two trained preschool teachers and one daycare assistant. 

• We conduct parent-teacher conferences twice a year using the California DRDP (2015) framework.

• ​We offer a cozy home environment with low child to teacher ratios.

Here at Little Learners, relationships come first! It is in the context of caring, supportive, respectful relationships between the teachers, the children, and their families that meaningful, life-long learning occurs.

           

We teach using emergent curriculum. Children are natural learners and brain research has proven again and again that children learn best through play. When children play they are following their own interests, seeking out answers, and testing theories they are scientists. While playing, children engage in problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict negotiation. While working through these challenges, children build their self confidence and they discover how incredibly capable and smart they truly are. Through play children learn to work together with their peers to achieve a common goal. Self-propelled, hands-on learning helps the information learned become concrete because what is being learned is attached to meaningful experiences.

 

Little Learners promotes free thinkers by allowing the children to freely engage in an environment that has been intentionally set up by qualified teachers to extend their learning and inspire critical thinking. The curriculum is tailored around the current interest of the children and meets each child at their developmental level. More importantly Little Learners promotes a peaceful curriculum. The teachers help children express and label their emotions and guide them towards conflict negotiation strategies that allow them to coexist peacefully alongside their peers.

 

Most importantly, we want every child to feel that Little Learners is more than just their school, but it is also their home away from home. We look forward to getting to know you and building life long memories with you and your child(ren)!
